The Fruits of our 6th Grade Youth

The 6th grade group has participated in the same activities listed below in the other blogs and all of the activities have been meaningful and brought out the best in the participants. A more recent project that we have worked on is Angel Tree. Angel Tree is an organization that connects incarcerated parents with their children. The organization coordinates the purchasing of Christmas gifts and sends them to the children in the name of their parent. This is a way for these children to feel a connection with their absent parent and give the parent and opportunity to express there love in a way that they couldn't manage on their own. The 6th graders donated money to buy presents, brainstormed on appropriate gifts and gift wrapped them. This was a fun experience for all involved. For some this involved a crash course in gift wrapping :-) They truly understood the significance of these gifts and wrapped them with love.

Both Paul and I have been struck by the compassion and deep thinking of our 6th grade group. I especially enjoy hearing the petitions that our group offers and the compassion that they have for their fellow students at school and in the community.
